Real Time Passenger Information for modern bus operators

ebblo Traveller from Trapeze is a modular Real Time Passenger Information that helps bus operators run reliable services by combining real-time fleet monitoring, dispatch and driver communication with consistent passenger information across web, mobile, and on street channels. It enables bus operators to move from simply tracking buses to actively managing services, improving punctuality, transparency, and passenger trust.

Industry Challenge

Across Malaysia, bus services are undergoing a visible transformation. Public transport is no longer judged only by coverage or affordability, but by reliability, transparency, and passenger experience. Government led initiatives such as SBST / BAS.MY have raised expectations around punctuality, route adherence, and service visibility, while passengers increasingly expect accurate real=time information similar to what they experience in rail and ride hailing services.

For bus operators, this shift brings both pressure and opportunity. Many fleets are expanding, routes are being rationalised, and new vehicles — including electric buses — are entering service. At the same time, operators are expected to demonstrate control over daily operations, provide evidence of service delivery, and maintain passenger trust in a congested and unpredictable operating environment.

The Trapeze Traveller RTPI Solution

ebblo Traveller from Trapeze is a comprehensive dispatch system for managing and monitoring your bus fleet
as well as being a passenger information system, that offers high-quality dynamic passenger information.
Thanks to its scalable architecture, the Traveller system operates effectively in both small cities and metropolises.
In the area of dynamic passenger information, Traveller offers high-quality estimates calculated
based on schedules and information received from vehicles.
Using advanced predictive algorithms Traveller generates predictions for real departure times, which it
can distribute through all regular passenger information channels.
Regardless of the selected distribution channel (stop displays, websites, mobile devices, SMS),
passengers always see the same, real-time information. They can also adapt the information to their needs and requirements.

The Benefits of Traveller

Traveller enables operators to actively manage services in real time, helping reduce delays, improve schedule and adherence, and address issues before they impact passengers.

By giving controllers a real-time, shared view of vehicles, routes, and deviations, Traveller moves operators from basic tracking to true day to day service control and faster decision making.

Passengers receive accurate, consistent real-time information across web, mobile, and displays, increasing confidence, reducing uncertainty, and improving overall satisfaction with bus services.

Automated data capture and reporting provide clear evidence of services delivered, supporting performance monitoring, authority requirements, and data sharing without manual effort.

Traveller’s modular, cloud ready architecture allows operators to deploy quickly, scale gradually, and modernise operations without heavy infrastructure or complex system integration.

Traveller Features

Real-time visibility of all vehicles on a map, including location, service assignment, and schedule deviation, enabling controllers to monitor services as they operate and identify issues early.

Tools that support schedule adherence and deviation management, incident handling, and real-time decision making during daily operations.

An in-vehicle driver application providing schedule guidance, navigation, announcements, and two-way text/voice communication between drivers and the control centre.

Consistent real-time passenger information delivered via web portals, mobile apps, and on street or onboard displays, including ETAs and journey planning.

Automated operational reporting and analytics, with support for industry standards and integrations (e.g. GTFS based data), enabling transparency, performance monitoring, and data sharing with authorities or third-party systems

Zielonogórski residents have been using real-time bus stop information since 2006. In recent years, the system has expanded to 80 displays at 74 stops. If there's no display at a stop, you can scan the QR code (they're available at all stops) and check departures on your phone. Additionally, you can view a bus's location on a map and use the route search engine.
